On Golden Pond

CSI investigation of the
On Golden Pond Boats

We went through the movie scene by scene and cut by cut to determine which Chris Craft U22s were used in each scene or cut... Our results were the same as "Woody Boater"... Below you can see a still from each cut in the movie...

I was ask to come along to see the On Golden Pond Boats by "Woody Boater” Matt Smith to identify and document the Century Raven from the movie... We also went over the Thayer IV and photographed it, inside and out. Since there were three U 22 Chris Crafts used in the movie I decided to go through the movie to identify scenes with each boat... Below is what I found!

Hull #U-22-1460 is the boat in most of the scenes... The next with most film time is U-22-xxxx aka the crash boat... Then boat # U-22-1802 had the least amount of film time. Later on this page you will see scene by scene proof with each boat... There are a few scenes that I cannot determine for sure the boat I will also not that...

U-22-1460

Photos of the transom of 1460 in the 1980s and in 2010... Note the snap location and the plank line through the Thayer IV name... A perfect match....

Screne shot from movie of main picture boat... Note unique snap line... Now look at the next photo...

Photo of 1460 in the fall of 2010... The snap location is a perfect match... This is like a finger print... And along with everything else is the best identifying feature of this boat being the main photo boat... Snaps location also match on the port side...

1460 had features unique to it... The extra aftermarket vent on front deck to cover hole where the spot light was... The black ivalite spotlight handle on dash... The Chrysler three spoke steering wheel... Other features that identify 1460 are snap line down the side of the boat... Three plank transom.... Bilge pump hole just in front of Chris Craft name on Starboard side...

U-22-1802

1802 did not have the after market vent on front deck, it also did not have the black knob on dash... It had a two spoke steering wheel, witha horn ring, not the Chrysler 3 spoke... Its bilge pump outlet is on the Port side in front of the Chris Craft name... Also 1802 has 4 transom planks....

U-22-xxxx the Crash boat

The Crash boat had an exra vent on front deck but it was a Chris Craft type... It had the two spoke steering wheel like 1802, but it had no horn ring.. the crash boat had 3 transom planks..

The Mail Boat a 1963 Century Raven 19 HIN RN6376

The Mail boat was in several scenes... There is no dispute which scenes it was in so we are not going cut by cut on this boat....
